Songwriters in the Round @ Common Ground Gathering
On Sunday July 12, internationally recognized jazz trumpeter Delbert Anderson teams with Lara Manzanares, who sings in both Spanish and English, and longtime Santa Fe singer-songwriter Jono Manson for an evening of storytelling and song. All three are New Mexicans with deep ties to place. The event is part of the Common Ground Gathering, which brings together New Mexico musicians from our state’s historical triad of Indigenous, Hispanic and Anglo cultures. Musicians representing these various cultural and practices will gather for public performances, storytelling and cross cultural dialogues emphasizing the themes of connection, collaboration and historical identity.

DELBERT ANDERSON is a Diné jazz trumpeter, composer, and educator whose music sits at the heart of a growing Native American jazz movement. He blends Navajo “spinning songs” of love, healing, and courtship with jazz, funk, and hip‑hop, drawing inspiration from Diné landscapes, history, and cultural preservation. His major works include The Long Walk: 1,674 Days, a reflection on a pivotal moment in Navajo history, and Manitou, which merges ancient Native melodies with modern jazz and funk. Anderson’s artistry has been highlighted by The New York Times, JazzTimes, and NPR.
LARA MANZANARES singer-songwriter of New Mexican heritage who, in addition to singing the Mexican music of her sheep-ranching childhood, composes her own style of music in both English and Spanish.
Lara draws on her rural roots and her urban experiences as she sings about love, loss, a sense of place, and her own connection to the land. Her new album Yo Soy de Ti was engineered and produced by Jono Manson.
JONO MANSON is a prolific singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, audio engineer, and producer. Over five decades, he’s played everywhere from local dives to Madison Square Garden. The Santa Fe–based musician’s discography spans major label and indie releases on three continents.
His work has been covered by numerous artists and featured in major films, on television, and in national ad campaigns. He has produced albums for Grammy winners and local heroes alike.

Parking is available in nearby Guadalupe Street parking lots, in the municipal lot next to Allsups gas station, and ample parking is always available across the street from the studio at the DeVargas Mall.
